I heart Vijous
Vijous (vee-zhoo) was founded in the spring of 2009 and showcases the artwork of Julia Gomelsky, a Santa Monica, CA based artist. Originally created to display a series of quirky doll photographs, it has grown to not only the Doll Collection but also a wide selection of art/illustration (My Pet Croc) and mixed media (custom paper mache on canvas). The name, Vijous is derived from a juxtaposition of Julia and her twin sister Victoria's first names.

About Julia
Born in St. Petersburg, Russia, back when it was still called Leningrad, Julia emigrated to the U.S. in 1978 along with her parents and twin sister, Victoria. She discovered her interest in photography and visual arts in high school and attended San Francisco State University, graduating in 2000 with a degree in Industrial Design (with an emphasis in graphic design).

Julia Gomelsky spent more than a decade working as a web designer in San Francisco and Los Angeles at companies such as Yahoo and Citysearch. Taking a leap of faith, she left her day job behind in spring 2013 to pursue her creative projects full time. Aside from the ecclectic mix of art found on Vijous, Julia's newest creative venture is a custom illiustration service called, Drawn for You.

In addition to art and photography, Julia loves design, travel, nutella and oysters.
